(Before) This was horrible crabgrass, weeds, and dirt. In the process of rotatiling the ground getting ready for seeding.
(After) We removed all weeds, roots, grated the soil, added a couple inches of loam and did special seeding and a ton of water - 'grasslings' as Kendall calls them - didn't really take. Ripped it out, removed all seedlings, added more loam, regraded soil and added sod (in a huge thunderstorm!) About 400 sq ft - Looks beautiful - hope the gazillion dollars we're spending in watering it will help it last through a Maine winter!
(Before) This doesn't capture the flagstone path that was done before we removed it. UUUGGGLY - but it was something leading to the pool.
(After) Installed this paved walkway on the 2 1/2 hottest days of the year with temps at 100 degrees. Dug it all out by hand and laid this myself. :) Cutting pavers at 10:30 at night did not impress the neighbors - God bless their patience as we used every waking hour getting these projects done!
(Before) We've called this the "Ugly Corner" for years! See the new plants waiting to be fit into their new home!
(After) So much better. Wanted to put in a small fountain with formation rocks, but time & $ has put that on hold. We're now calling this our "Zen Garden"! LOL! Dan wants desperately to get rid of the beach roses under the lilac tree. I want to get rid of the Japenese Beatles that force me to use Seven to get rid of the bastards!
The pics don't do justice all the work we've done since May, but we feel really good about the progress and appreciate Joe for his help with some of these projects. He's a trooper and very supportive!
